California College Of The Arts Breaks Ground On More Student Housing

San Francisco, CA: Equity Community Builders is the project manager and financing consultant for CCA’s new affordable student housing building at 75 Arkansas Street, in Potrero Hill. This 65,000 sf structure will include three stories of wood frame housing over a concrete podium, and will provide 27 four-bedroom units and 3 two-bedroom units, and a 7,400 sf ground-floor retail space.

In her article in BisNow, Julie Littman notes how CCA is “undergoing a massive expansion to bring its Oakland and San Francisco campuses together on one site.” In fact, the college is breaking ground on a site located at 75 Arkansas, near the San Francisco campus, to add more student housing.

“We are committed to extensive engagement with CCA’s student life and staff as well as the property owner”, says ECB project manager Suzanne Brown. This engagement will also be extended to the nearby communities.

Designed by Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects, the building will use 73 percent less energy than the national average for a similar sized college dormitory, reflecting a commitment to social and environmental responsibility.

For two decades ECB has demonstrated its commitment to responsibly developing buildings and creating great places that contribute to the vitality of neighborhoods and help strengthen communities. We aim to provide affordable housing at all points on the income spectrum; to apply adaptive re-use strategies of historic structures; and to develop centers for non-profit innovation.
